Cassegliano:
70
hectares one
after another. About
20 hectares have been
replanted in the last 4 years,
all attended to with the same
care as the vineyards at Romàns
d’Isonzo: 4000 vines per hectare, all
supported by wood poles; the whole
vineyard irrigated by gentle rain-like drops of
water.
The grapes used in the vintage of the “Borgo dei
Vassalli” wines and of Ribolla Gialla are grown and
harvested in these vineyards.
Gravely terrain, characterised by high permeability, aeration,
and accentuated
oxidation, modest humus content, and low levels
of water retention. From time to time they
require irrigation, and fertilisation needs to be effected with
prudence. Even though not easily
cultivated quantitatively, the wine produced from these vineyards
is of optimum quality and character.
The yield never exceeds 100 quintiles per hectare. The sea’s
proximity insures a mild climate.
